I started my 3 year old daughter with these when she was a newborn. While I was pregnant with her, I ordered 2 pink and 2 blue (didn't know the sex of my baby. Wanted to be prepared and have a backup!). Since then I have ordered 6 more pink ones. My daughter LOVES LOVES LOVES her silkes. We are up to 9 now (the 8 pink, and I did keep 1 blue one -- I gave the other blue one as a gift). I just introduce new pink ones into her rotation every now and again to try to keep the same level of "worn" to them all. I even keep one in the car because when she's tired, she just wants to have it. She doesn't suck her thumb, which is awesome -- she just needs to have her silkie. I would highly recommend this to anyone. The true bonus of the silkie is that I can take them anywhere, and they're not irreplaceable -- like my other kids' lovies. -- I mean, I have a stash of them, so if I lost one, it wouldn't be as traumatic since I can just pull out another one.
