The NICU can be an intimidating, and stressful environment. Remember, you are an important part of your baby’s care. Your touch, your voice, your love are healing balm to your little one. Comfort is a powerful tool that makes a difference in both your and your baby’s wellbeing.

Provide your baby with comfort: Even when your baby is in need of medical technology your soothing touch is important. Your comforting presence can help your baby thrive and maintain temperature, gain weight, and reduce the hospital stay.

Create a Comfort Zone: Comfort Silkie products are designed to help you make the NICU a more soothing place for your baby to grow and thrive. The Comfort Silkie Isolette Cover Blanket is designed to cushion the loud noises and bright lights of the NICU. The dark brown satin backing helps create a more womb-like sleepy, comfort place. The blanket is shipped with a special pen so you can write your messages of love to your little one for all to see. After the NICU you can use this unique keepsake as a comfort blanket for your baby.
The Comfort Silkie Boundary/Positioners are designed to wrap around and support your tiny baby with with softness. These silkie tubes encircle baby for a calming effect, provide support for tubes or monitoring cables, and help maintain warmth. The Comfort Silkie Nest is also designed to create a secure nesting environment and soothing boundaries that can continue to be used after the NICU.

Comfort scent connection: Your soothing scent is as unique to your baby as fingerprints. The Comfort Silkie Security Blanket is designed to absorb your scent and create a comfort scent connection for your baby.

Comfort touch: Your loving touch is important to your baby; gently stroke or caress your baby. Preemie babies can be easily over stimulated but see how your baby responds. Ask your baby’s nurse how you can best provide comfort and nurturing touch. When baby is ready, use the Comfort Silkie Security Blanket for silkie, comfort touch and stroking. The fabric combination is a soothing womb-like silkie feel and skin-like softness.

Gently hold your baby’s foot or hand. Place your hand on baby’s head and cup their arms or legs with your other hand to provide surrounding comfort touch. Use your hand to tuck baby’s feet and legs close to its bottom giving your baby a feeling of close security. The Comfort Silkie Infant Swaddler is a snuggly wrap designed to help baby adjust from womb to world.

Be involved in baby’s scheduled times when of diaper change, rotation, (about every 4 hours) and let the nurses know you would like to be a part of baby care and comfort touch. When baby is ready enjoy the close touch of Kangaroo Care.
